Zipfybob race on the Pitztal Glacier
Since its invention in the 1970s as the original mini bob in the Kitzbühel Alps, the Zipfybob (mini bob) has experienced a very special kind of renaissance. Young people who got to know and appreciate the Zipfybob as a toy in their childhood are now reinventing the Zipfybob (also known as the Zipflbob or Zipfelbob) – as a piece of sports equipment.
The first Zipfybob World Series starts on 29 November in the Pitztal and who knows, maybe the initiators’ ambitious goal will be achieved one day and the Zipfybob sport will become an Olympic sport!
The track is 500 meters long and makes for an exciting and varied Zipfybob race. All you need are ski goggles, gloves, a helmet, sturdy shoes and winter clothing – the minimum age is just 10 years. A racing sport for everyone!
Every winter sports fan knows it by now, the small plastic bob “mini bob” or as it is also called in the Alpine region, due to its unusual and for the time unique and patented shape: Zipflbob, Zipfybob or Zipfelbob. Depending on the dialect, region and spelling, there are other terms…
If you’re not yet familiar with the Zipfybob, November 29th is the ideal opportunity to get to know and love it on the Zipfybob race track.
The organizers are happy about every participant.
Who doesn’t know the plastic bob? But this childhood memory has long since shed the peculiar charm of the 70s and has mutated into a fun and sporting device for the whole family. The best way to see this for yourself is at the “Brunnenkogel Wahnsinn” next Saturday.
If you would also like to organize a Zipflbob race, please get in touch with us – we will be happy to support you!
