Despite the lack of snow and warm temperatures, the traditional horn sled race is once again taking place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen this year.
Peter Strodl and his helpers have been making sure that there is enough snow on the downhill course since Monday. The necessary snow is “scraped together” from all over Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Even from the ice stadium and the ski stadium comes the urgently needed snow for the nationally popular event. Guests and participants travel from all over Germany, sometimes even from abroad, for the annual traditional race.
“Our event has never been canceled,” says Strodl, and that’s how it should be in 2016 too.
During the race breaks, the popular Zipfelbob race for everyone takes place in the finish area. Whether young or old, everyone can take part in the Zipfelbob race and put their skills to the test.
At 4 pm, prizes will be awarded to the three fastest runners and at 7 pm, the official award ceremony and ball will take place in the Bayernhalle. The evening will be accompanied by music from the band “Dreisam”.
If you would like to take part in the event as a spectator or Zipfelbob racer, you can find us at the “Wildenauerstr” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There is plenty of parking available at the Olympic ski stadium (ski jump).
