What began as a bet in 1970 has now become a regional and national attraction in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region. Tourists and locals alike cheer on this event every year.
Since January 6, 1970, participants in the traditional horn sledge race have been hurtling down the 1.2 km “high road” from the Partnachalm to the valley, right outside the door of the Partenkirchen horn sledge club. Daredevil maneuvers must be performed to master the difficult descent – if you want to win here, you have to risk everything…
As part of the horn sled race, a mini bob race was held on the finishing slope to the great delight of the young spectators. The young racers competed against each other with uniform Zipfybobs (the original mini bob) in a mass start. The 3 best Zipflbob racers were determined in a knockout system.
The 3 winners were delighted with their new Zipflbobs – a special series of the original mini bob in green with a limited edition.
