The Zipflbob race for children aged 5 to 13, which takes place during the break at around 1:30 pm, has become an integral part of the traditional event. Children can borrow bobsleighs on site. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Excitement, fun and speed – that’s what the traditional horn sledge race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen stands for. For the 54th time, the Hornschlittenverein Partenkirchen e.V. invites you to take part on Epiphany. It is a special spectacle and a great thrill for participants and spectators alike. The conditions of participation are clear: anyone who owns a Werdenfelser-style horn sledge is eligible to take part. A good dose of courage is also recommended! Because the route, which is a good one kilometer long, has a lot to offer: around 160 meters in altitude have to be overcome. Sharp bends and gradients of up to 25 percent demand a lot from the teams of four. The skill of each individual is required to control the vehicle at breathtaking speeds. The fastest teams can reach speeds of up to 100 km\/h!
The race is much more than a sporting competition. It is a reminder of the hard work and great achievement of the mountain farmers, who originally used their sledges to transport hay and felled wood down into the valley. It also brings people together and keeps the region’s traditions alive. This is made possible by the passion and energy of the members of the Hornschlittenverein
Partenkirchen e.V. Voluntary work like this characterizes our country and makes it so worth living in.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,Dear friends of the Horn Sled Race,For 54 years, the legendary Horn Sled Race has been as much a part of Epiphany as the candles on the Christmas tree and the punch in the glasses – and quite honestly, what would our start to the year here in Garmisch-Partenkirchen be without this sporting highlight, which is unparalleled throughout Germany? “No pain, no gain!” – This motto is as old as it is true, and it is doubly true here: not only are the courageous riders fighting hard for victory today, but the organizing team from the Hornschlittenverein Partenkirchen e.V. is once again proving its outstanding organizational talent and almost every year they manage to put on this unique race. Year after year, the team around Peter Strodl defies snow,rain or icy cold and not only keeps its nerve, but also its sense of humor – and I find that simply admirable. A heartfelt “Thank you” for your commitment, you really do something unique here. Without your passion and flexibility, the horn sledge race as we know it would simply be unthinkable!
